The Holy Spirit
Every four years, in Tomar there are celebrations of the Holy Spirit.
Those are the most important ones in the city, one of the oldest in the country and the ones that receive more people from all over the country.
In these celebrations, you cannot miss the festival of the trays, which takes its name from the trays carried during the procession, each one of them representing a parish from the District, which travels around the city for 5km, having by its sides the quilts that people hang from their windows.
This catholic celebration dates back to the XIV century not only in Portugal but also in Brazil, as a consequence of the Portuguese colonisation.
